Another Day In Eloy.

We had a good week here in Eloy, we continue to settle in and we had two visits from friends. Sandy has been active with several groups here at the Ranch as she plays Pickle Ball, learns card games and plays Mexican Train; she has still found time to coax John down to the fitness center and pool for his workout. We are getting closer to that magic date (November 1st), when there will apparently be enough people arriving at the Ranch for the clubs to start meeting, we plan to attend the Hiking and RV club activities.

We did some shopping this week and purchased a couple more pieces for our patios and added a chest of drawers to the master bedroom. Outside we added a Weber grill to the back patio and a two-seat glider to the front, we still want to add a few more chairs for a conversation area on the back patio. Inside we finally took delivery of a dresser that Sandy purchased in July, the sales person had promised to deliver it but had put us off twice, his wife and sister finally got it here on Friday evening.

Earlier in the week we spent the day with our friends Bill and Carrie. They have a house a few minutes away in Casa Grande and they spend the summer where we do at Rainbows End Campground in Wisconsin. Bill and Carrie stopped to see the house and took us on a tour of Casa Grande including lunch at their home. After lunch Bill drove us to Maricopa to see that area and a stop at Baskin Robbins for dessert, on the way home Bill showed us ranch land and a cattle lot formerly owned by John Wayne and his business partner.

Bill is a retired truck driver and he had a comment or two about one of our blogs from our trip down here where I added my rant about a couple of drivers that apparently felt we weren’t entitled to be on their road, Bill has big shoulders and had a smile after telling John that he should stay out of the kitchen if he can’t take the heat; after 30 years in a squad car John has withstood plenty of heat and some fire but he heard Bill’s point. We had a great day and thank them for their hospitality, it’s nice to have Bill and Carrie here as we get to know our new home town.

Today we had a visit from full time RV friends Steve and Cathy. We met Steve and Cathy last year when we were in Texas, they are friends with Paul and Mary who introduced us. Steve and Cathy were in the area and stopped to see the house and community. We spent some time here at the house and then showed them around the ranch before stopping at the grill for lunch. We are not trying to lour them away from the road but a sticks and bricks may be in their future and they wanted to see what Robson has to offer. We enjoyed our visit and hope to see them again down the road.

KoKo let us use her limo to show Steve and Cathy around the ranch.

Work and Play.

After our first week at the house we have completed enough work that we have started to relax and enjoy the community. The dust has been swept up outside, the patio furniture set out and the windows washed; inside we have cleaned, rolled out the rugs and put things in place. Some items for the motor home have been cleaned or laundered and stowed back in the ship.

We made it to the clubhouse for lunch on Wednesday and ordered Pizza to go last night. Sandy also had lunch with the ladies from our neighborhood and KoKo has been getting reacquainted with some of her friends at the dog park. Sandy has been walking in the morning and has gotten John out for a bike ride the last two days. Yesterday we got back  into the lap pool followed by 10 minutes in the steam room, today we were in the gym trying to get back into some sort of shape.

The back patio is a nice spot to have breakfast.

The front patio is shaded during the afternoon, it is a nice spot to take a “break”??? We will be looking for a few more pieces of furniture for both patios.

Sandy had her first Pickle Ball lesson today, here she is practicing her serve.

In November we will probably join the RV Cub here at Robson Ranch and attend our first meeting. We will learn more about the club in the future but we know they schedule a get-together or two each year and have been very active in lobbying Robson for an RV storage area and the possibility of some covered spots in the future.

The 96 spot storage lot is well done, the spots are 30, 40 and 45 feet long and the area is fenced with an electronic access gate and yard lights; the storage lot can only be entered between the hours of 6AM to 8PM.  Robson has promised some 45 foot covered spots but the economy and a lack of renters have delayed that plan, the latest agreement that has been made is that Robson will build the roof when 10 people have committed to a one year rental of a covered spot (our name is on that list).

The RV storage area is fenced with wire on top and it has an automatic gate.

You need a proximity card to enter or leave the storage yard, the gate closes after you pass through.

The gate stays open long enough for the mothership to pass through.

The yard has several overhead lights. The covered sites will be located to the right where the 5th wheel is parked.

We have a 45 foot space, it is just wide enough for the ship.
