Today we drove down to the Milwaukee area to clean out our climate controlled storage unit. We were up early and on the road before 8:00 AM which put us in the lobby of the truck rental place by 10:00 AM, we rented a 26 foot truck for our “stuff” and an auto trailer to haul the CRV. Sandy had previously taken care of the reservation online so it was a quick visit at the counter, the truck and some packing items were ready to go and we were ready to pack.
It was a short drive from the rental place to the storage unit, John backed the truck up to the door and we started moving items from the storage space to the parking lot while we decided where to place them into the truck. The heaviest items went in first at the front of the truck, fragile items went in last near the rear of the load.
John pulls out the very long loading ramp at the storage building.
The door opens, John looks concerned about what we will find.
It’s all still there, a few more spider webs but it’s all in good shape.
The next four hours were spent hauling, loading and securing the items into the truck, it was very hot and humid inside the box so John looked like he had fallen into a swimming pool when we were finished. Sandy swept out the room when it was finally empty and dropped off the gate and building keys at the office.
After four hours of sweat and labor everything was inside the truck, the right side will be filled tomorrow.
With the storage unit part of our life behind us we drove back to the truck rental office where we hooked up the vehicle trailer only to find out that the tail lamps were not working. While John tried to get the lights working Sandy walked up to the office to let them know about our problem. When Sandy returned from the office she said that “Roadside Assistance” was in route to help us; Roadside Assistance?, we haven’t made it to the road yet! After an hour delay (to change the plug for the trailer lights), we were headed back to Reedsville, tomorrow we will load the remainder of the property and trailer the CRV for our Sunday morning drive.

It's a good feeling to give them that key back and the storage charges stop isn't it? Congratulations!!
stories like these make me feel better about getting rid of our stuff and not storing it...

For a minute there I thought you were going to fill the truck with your storage unit things. I think I need new glasses. Now that I've figured out that's not true. No more storage fees - Yea.
