Another Day On The Road.

We put another 700 miles behind us today and find ourselves in  Santa Rosa, New Mexico tonight. The day was uneventful, more hills to climb and some very rough roads in Oklahoma. We continued on I-44 this morning which took us past Joplin, there was very little damage evident from the interstate. We picked up I-40 in Oklahoma City and we rode it through Tulsa and on into Texas.

We took the short route across Texas (180 miles), which took us through Amarillo (or Armadillo as John calls it). Near the New Mexico state line we came upon a crash, a van had struck the guardrail off the left side of our lanes and was sitting crossway in our lane with parts and pieces strewn across the road; it appeared as though everyone was out or getting out and there were people there assisting them so we continued on our way. We enjoyed “crossing” Texas in a few hours, our past trips have taken us days.

If all goes well we should be in Casa Grade, Arizona tomorrow night. We will then have a day to catch up and rest up before our big day at the house on the 14th. After closing , the remainder of the week will be busy with deliveries and moving the contents of the truck into the house; by next Monday the landscapers will start work so we hope everything continues to come together as planned.

We saw a few trees down in Joplin.

We had to pay tolls in Oklahoma on I-44.

The toll roads were smooth but I-44 through Oklahoma City was some of the worst we have been on.

It was a long day for Sandy, KoKo didn’t sleep well last night which caused Sandy to have only an hour of sleep as well, John was apparently unconscious.

The clouds were neat in Texas today.

700 miles is a very long day. Don't think we've ever done that in one day.
Take care and drive safe out there.

That's an awful lot of miles for one day!
