Yesterday we made the drive back to our summer home at Rainbows End Campground in Reedsville, Wisconsin. The drive went well and we arrived at the campground shortly after noon, Norm got us onto a site he had prepared and we are set for now.
Due to the wet fall and a very short, cool and wet spring we are not on the site Norm intended us to be on but it was obvious he had put some work into our current site to get it ready for a motorhome. If the weather cooperates we may move to the other site later in the summer after some grass grows on it. Norm went out of his way to accommodate us and his work is very much appreciated.
After we got a few connections made we were off to Chilton to see Sandy’s father and Stepmother, of course KoKo was first in the door and had located her ball before we were inside. We had a nice visit and went out for supper where Sandy’s brother Wayne was able to join us.
I-39 took us north through Illinois.
We had to pay that Illinois toll before they let us go.
Back in Wisconsin!
I-90 was the worst stretch of road we have been on in quite awhile, we were down to 55 mph and it still felt like the mothership was going to shake into pieces. We were glad to make it to Madison where we turned onto US 151.
It was a quick drive to Fond Du Lac where we crossed over STH 23, John’s old stomping grounds.
US 151 took us right down the main street in our old hometown of Chilton.
Even KoKo was anxious to see “grandpa”.
First we had to continue on to Reedsville and land the mothership.
Then it was back to Chilton for a good talking too from the “G-man,
and some catch with Mickie.
The weather is hot and HUMID with a heat index approaching 100 degrees so today was a sweat festival as John washed windows and installed the shades, after a few more outdoor odds and ends were completed John was a pretty damp dude. We are actually glade it is swampy here as it may help prepare us for our journey back to Eloy, Arizona next month; it will be interesting to see if we prefer the swampy, sticky heat here or the oven dry heat of the Arizona summer.
We did a comparison of today’s weather: in Reedsville the current temperature is 93 but it feels like 97, in Eloy it is currently 96 but it feels like 91. Tonight Eloy will be 68 while the forecast for here is 74. By Friday the high temperature in Reedsville is forecast to be 59 so we may need the heater!
This afternoon we are setup on site 63 at Rainbows End.

ewww this is too hot and muggy this week in Wisconsin!
Like your campsite with the farm in the background.. how "Wisconsin-ish"!!!
We were on that same stretch of highway on I-90 last month and it shook us so bad... and since then the rig has not handled right. Sooooo Steve looked and now this week we are repairing a broken mount for a shock ... and I think it was that stretch of highway that broke it!
Karen and Steve
nothing worse than 'hot and muggy' with the sweat running down your back and your front!..eww!!..enjoy your visit!..looks like Koko already has them trained to 'throw the ball'!!
Glad you're there safe and sound. I thought that stretch of I-80 through Indiana was lousy but I-90 must really be rough. Glad Koko got to spend time with Grandpa.
Welcome back to Wisconsin. We've been back since late April, and the weather has been crazy. Norm is such a helpful guy. One of the nicest campground owners we have ever met!
