Travel Day To Custer South Dakota.

Our stay in Spearfish was enjoyable but it was moving day today so we are now in Custer South Dakota where we will spend the next two weeks at the Beaver Lake Campground. We have a few things planned here and we may be able to meet up with Rollie and Gina if their schedule permits.

The weekend in Spearfish was warm and the campground was crowded but we survived. Friday evening we were downtown where there were several blocks of main street closed for a Corvette gathering. We enjoyed looking at the cars but when we got back to the campground the crowd next to us had taken over the parking spot in front of the mothership to stand around and jaw, park a few strollers, grills and a few kids; we backed in and I think they all got out of the way; not sure what kind of clown car they all got out of but they were packed and gone by 6 AM Saturday morning, have a good trip! Saturday we did our weekly cleaning and grocery shopping before getting ready for today’s move.

Our 99 mile drive went well today, Sunday morning traffic was sparse. We made a fuel stop in Rapid City before heading into the hills; we averaged 8.5 mpg on that tank despite driving a lot of interstate miles. We have a larger site here than at Chris’ Camp so we should have a parking spot whenever we get home.

After a fuel stop we took the bypass around Rapid City.

The dome is at Reptile Garden, a place John remembers his mom and Dad taking him to.

The hills were getting closer.

Traffic was thin today.

Always nice views in the Black Hills.

What did you think of Elkhorn Ridge? They do have a nice dog park there, don't they? Chloe and LadyBug spent some running around time there. Gorgeous views on that drive you took today...I just love the whole Black Hills area! I'm reliving my trip just looking at your pics!!
