Legacy Trail Bicycle Ride.

The temperature and winds were down this morning giving us the chance to ride the Legacy Trail. The trail begins just outside Pony Express (where we are staying), so we have walked the first few miles of the trail but we wanted to follow it to the other end near Farmington. The trail is multi-use and we have seen runners, walkers, bladders and bikers but it was sparsely populated today.

It took us just short of an hour to reach the end of the trail at Farmington Station, about 12.75 miles from our starting point. We took a short break for water and a snack then rode back to North Salt Lake. After starting for home we noticed that there was some wind out of the south that had made us look good on the way to Farmington but we finished the 25+, miles with an average speed of 12.5 mph.

There are a number of trailheads with small shelters and parking along the trail.

It was a nice day for a ride, and to celebrate the 4th of July; we even had a hot dog for lunch and Sandy baked an apple pie. Last night we enjoyed fireworks without leaving Pony Express, we could see one display in downtown Salt Lake and another up on the hill just outside the park. Happy 4th Everyone!
