Out On The Border.

Another travel day today, we drove 63 miles from Ely to Baker Nevada where we will be staying at the Border Inn located on Hwy 50 at the Nevada, Utah State line. The Welcome to Utah sign is located in front of the building but we think we are still in Nevada because there are slot machines located on the end of the building where the campground is located.

The drive went well, we left Ely this morning on Hwy 50 and crossed 2 summits to get here; the campground is an open parking lot type of place without trees but to us it looked better than the campground located in downtown Baker.

 

We were back on Hwy 50 this morning.

The Connors Pass Summit, elevation 7,723 feet.

 

The ride down from the summit had some slow curves in it.

 

The view was great.

 

About to crest Sacramento Summit, it was a slow, steep and steady climb to 7,145 feet in elevation.

 

The ride down was not to bad, a fairly steady grade in the 4%-6% range with no sharp curves.

 

We close in on the Inn (it’s on the right in the distance).

After we set up we drove to the Great Basin National Park’s Visitor Center for a map and other park information, we will tour the park tomorrow.  We also stopped at the Baker Village Archeological Site that is located near the campground, we will do a blog on our visit sometime soon.
