Lake Tahoe.

Today we took a ride around Lake Tahoe, what makes this place a treat is the the total package, the water color along with the backdrop of mountains makes taking pictures easy. We started out traveling north along the west shore on highway 89. Our first stop was at Emerald Bay.

Highway 89 snakes it way up to the Emerald Bay overlook.

Emerald Bay and Fannette Island.

This water is falling toward the Bay.

We continued north on 89 to Tahoe City; we made a few stops to see the lake but there are a lot of private homes and “No Trespassing” signs along the road which limits access and the view. We did find some pull outs that offered a scenic view.

In Tahoe City we turned onto Hwy 28 and continued north along the west shore toward Incline Village. There were a few stops for road construction but no substantial waiting involved. There were still a lot of homes on the lake but we continued to get a good view here and there.

Between Tahoe City and Cedar Flat we took a drive on a Forest Service Road, a few miles up the road we stopped when we found the road was still covered with snow, it looked deeper than we cared to try with the CRV.

Back on Hwy 28 we still had scenery.

We stopped in Cedar Flat to eat our lunch before continuing on to Incline Village.  Incline Village is located along the north shore of the lake, after entering the village we turned onto Hwy 431 and drove up to the Mount Rose Scenic Overlook. this stop offered a great view of Lake Tahoe, Incline Village and the surrounding mountains.

A wide-angle image from the Mount Rose Overlook.

After our detour to the overlook we drove back down to Hwy 28, after traveling through Incline Village 28 turned south and took us along the east shore. We made our last stop at Memorial Point for the following views of the lake.

We continued south on 28 to Hwy 50, we turned south on 50 back to our starting point at Zephyr Cove. It was another good day to be a full-timer.

Pretty cool. When are you going to visit Crater Lake?

Crater Lake will have to wait until another year. We are actually heading east (eventually to WI) making several stops along the way.
