Grooming Day

Today was grooming day for the wooly beast that lives with us (not John, KoKo). Sandy brushed her out then it was bath time followed by the hair dryer, more brushing and finally cutting. John helped a little by holding KoKo when she got wiggly but Sandy did the work.

After three hours in Sandy’s Salon.

February was our first full month on the road and our budget looked good overall as we were $560.00 under our goal. Our biggest savings was in diesel fuel as we did not fuel up in February; we filled before Tucson and then spent two weeks there followed by two weeks in Mesa so $200.00 in that line was safe. We were also under budget in campground expense ($194.00 under), followed closely by fuel for the CRV ($181.00 under); this is probably due to the proximity of the sites we visited in Tucson and Mesa. The other two areas we saved in were entertainment ($108.00 under), and clothing and grooming ($100.00 under). Our miscellaneous budget was $85.00 under primarily because John didn’t wreck anything (knocking on wood). We were on target with our food and dinning out expenses.

We did go over budget in a few areas, the most notable was our annual payment for mail forwarding service which was expected in January but not billed until February so the $240.00 saved in January’s budget was an overage last month. Electronics and supplies was $88.00 over; we stocked up on printer ink and paper. Our satellite television budget was over by $23.00 due to setup fees and our propane budget was over by $30.00 but a tank lasts us quite a while.

It is good to know that the budget we set up before we started full timing was on the target, we may have to make adjustments in the future if things change, but for now we are comfortable with it.
