Family and Friends

We have been busy the past few days visiting with family and friends. John’s cousin, uncle and aunt made it to Mesa and we received a call from some friends in Coolidge whom we wanted to visit so we have been busy for the past few days.

Saturday morning we received a call from John’s cousin Rob and his wife Barbara that they had arrived back in Mesa. Barbara visited us on our first day at Valle del Oro but had to return to Wisconsin to close on the sale of their home there; they arrived back in Mesa Friday night with a large rental truck containing the belongings they kept from the house; they will now be full time Mesa residents.

Saturday evening we visited Rob and Barbara at their home, Rob’s mother and father (John’s uncle and aunt), had arrived Saturday afternoon so we enjoyed snacks and a nice visit with them.

It rained on Sunday so we took a drive to look at some other RV Parks in Mesa; Valle del Oro is a very  nice park but we thought we would look at other possibilities. We had a short list of  four other parks that we wanted to visit and compare with this park. We drove through them looking at the sites and facilities; they were all nice parks but there wasn’t anything that jumped out at us as being a great deal better than here. If we return to Mesa we will probably choose Valle del Oro primarily because it is so close to Rob and Barbara.

Monday we received a call from Donna and Dave who are friends from Wisconsin. Donna had been an elected office holder in the Courthouse where we worked and they have gone on some of the fall color tours that our friend Oscar had organized. We called Donna and Dave with the dates that we would be in the area and Monday was the day that worked out for us. Sandy and John drove to their site at Indian Skies RV Resort in Coolidge and enjoyed our visit and a great lunch at the Gallopin Goose Saloon. We hope to see them when we visit Wisconsin later this year.

Today we had lunch with John’s uncle and aunt at the Olive Garden Restaurant; after lunch they got a tour of the mothership. It was nice to spend the afternoon with them and we hope to get together with the family tomorrow for dinner.

We will leave Mesa on Thursday so tomorrow we will pack up and prepare for our travel day. We have enjoyed our stay here in Mesa but it is time to move on toward California.
