We drove down to the harbor area today to do a walking tour of the waterfront and the Gaslamp Quarter. Traffic was light when we drove in and returned so it was pretty easy to find our way. We parked at the Convention Center and paid $10 but we saw a few other lots in the Gaslamp Quarter that charged less.
After parking we walked up and over the convention center which gives you a good view of the Marriott Marina and a portion of the harbor. We walked down to Embarcadero Marina Park South which is on the water and after a walk around the park we walked along the waterfront path checking out the boats in the marina. We also walked around Embarcadero Marina Park North, the north and south parks are separated by the marina entrance.
Up and over the Convention Center means we climbed these stairs and went down the stairs on the harbor side.

Harbor Security.
This piece was for sale for $12,500 (the sculpture).

Another U.S. Navy vessel leaving the harbor.
We continued walking north along the waterfront to Seaport Village which is a mall with various restaurants and shopping opportunities. We took a quick walk through the area to look at the flowers but we then returned to the CRV to eat the lunch we had packed.
A Bird of Paradise Plant in Seaport Village.
Mom and Dad had the kids out to Seaport Village.
After our lunch we took a quick walk to the Gaslamp District, we are not shoppers and because we had lunch our walking tour was very quick. Other than the shops and bistros there wasn’t much to see so we walked back to the car and drove back to Santee. The weather was fine and we enjoyed our walk.
Some of the sights in the Gaslamp Quarter.
The William Heath Davis House is one of the oldest structures in the downtown area.
Not everything in the Gaslamp Quarter was old, this is one of two Maseratis we saw along with a Rolls Royce, maybe the owners are from “Old Money”.
