The Countdown Reaches Zero

Tuesday our departments held a “Retirement open house” for both of us. John is retiring from the Sheriff’s department with over 31 years of service and Sandy is retiring with 20 years of service in the Information Technology department.

The Sheriff’s Department presented John with a plaque commemorating his service; this is John with Sheriff Jerry Pagel and the plaque.

The badge was John’s actual badge that he has worn over the years, because John served as Jail Administrator for the past 7.5 years they added a Jail key to the plaque as well. It is a very beautiful plaque and means a lot to John.

We have been invited to the January 19th County Board Meeting when the board will recognize our  service by presenting each of us with a clock, this is standard practice for retirees. Unfortunately we will be on the road already so we have made arrangements for a friend to hold the clocks until we return next summer.

Below are some other photos from the open house.

This is John and Darryl Martin, Darryl works for Aramark which provides food service for the jail, Darryl was so very kind to provide the main entrees for the event.

We wanted to thank everyone that helped plan, prepare, and contributed to our retirement open house; we greatly appreciate your efforts and it was truly more than we expected. We would like to thank those that took time out of their day to stop down and wish us well on our next adventure in life, thanks for making the day special.

We both enjoyed our jobs but we have been planning this for so many years and just know its time to move on. We thank you for the support over the years and wish all of you the very best.
